Andries Erwee started the business in 1988 because of his love for teenagers, his passion for Africa and the world in general. Since then Andries, his family and Temba Travel have undertaken numerous tours to Europe, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and almost every other African country.

Temba’s travels are, however, not only limited to Africa. From 1993 to 2003 Temba Travel/Safaris presented the very popular JIP Tour to Europe in collaboration with KFM and Die Burger. Since 2004 this tour has been presented solely by Temba Travel/Safaris. The popularity of the annual youth tour to Europe has elevated to such an extent that provision must urgently be made to satisfy the enormous demand. Obtaining a place on the Big Europe Youth Tour has become highly sought after.

Youth tours to America and the Far East also take place from time to time.

The Far Eastern nations also send their young people to South Africa for Geography courses.

The Kalahari-Vasbyt course is presented during January in Namibia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. It is a mentally and physically challenging tour. During this tour, young men get the opportunity to enjoy the Kalahari-Vasbyt and in addition, to return as leaders with great character.
